Smaller Incisions, Less Downtime with the da Vinci Surgical System [VIDEO]

Thanks to new developments in surgical technology and techniques, we can perform many procedures with less pain, smaller scars and faster recovery right here in Beaufort.

The da Vinci Surgical System, initially used for urological surgery, is now used by several of our board-certified surgeons for single-incision hysterectomy, fibroid removal and cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) as well as for organ-sparing kidney cancer excision.

With single-site surgery, surgeons make one small incision (as opposed to three or four incisions with laparoscopic surgery or one long incision with open surgery). Because single-site surgery requires a smaller incision and less time in the operating room, patients can experience less pain and shorter hospital stays.

Beaufort Memorial physicians Drs. Deanna Mansker and Stephen Sisco discuss the advantages of single site surgery with the da Vinci Surgical System.
