The Hoodoo Exhibit — Beaufort History Museum

Sponsored by the Beaufort Gazette and Island Packet, this imaginative, month-long exhibit chronicles Hoodoo, a mystical blend of Christianity, herb medicine and the supernatural. Artists Bernice and Andy Tate have curated a spellbinding display of stories and artifacts that bring ancient Hoodoo mystique to modern life. Details here.

Palmetto Running Company Running Club

The Palmetto Running Company Running Club meets Saturday mornings at the Palmetto Running Company at 8for group runs in Beaufort and Bluffton. Runners and walkers of all abilities and goals are invited to join. Full details here.

Technical College of the Lowcountry’s 

Oyster Roast by the Bay & Cornhole Tournament

Enjoy oysters cooked to perfection by Sea Eagle Oyster Masters, plus hot dogs, beer, wine and more from 6 – 10 p.m. at the TCL Beaufort Campus on the banks of the beautiful Beaufort River. Cornhole team registration begins at 5:30 p.m. Full details.

Adaptive Golf Clinic

This session, sponsored by Beaufort Memorial in conjunction with the Legends of Parris Island golf course, takes place from 9 – 11 a.m. on the driving range. Civilians, veterans and active military personnel are invited to join the two-hour session to learn how to use adaptive techniques and tools to tee off and putt better than ever. Fall Pickin’ by The River

From noon till 5:30 p.m., enjoy stage shows and open jams throughout Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park. Beginner to advanced musicians welcome — NO alcohol, amplifiers or drums. Everyone’s welcome to come enjoy all-acoustic bluegrass, country and folk music. Don’t forget your lawn chair! Details.

2015 Fall Festival of Houses & Gardens

Pick a tour that fits your interests. Friday, stroll through key homes within the city’s vibrant historic district. Saturday, hop in the car and ramble about town to view iconic plantations and architectural structures. Or be one of the last few to grab tickets for Kitchens & Cuisine. Local chefs will create regional specialties in private kitchens in homes in downtown Beaufort, on Pigeon Point and on Lady’s Island. Full details/tickets.

Pat Conroy’s 70th Birthday Party
