Cooler temperatures have hit the South Carolina coast, bringing many opportunities to get outside and enjoy the fall weather. Take a peek at these and other local events to live well in the Lowcountry this November.

Touch a Truck Spirit Night-Beaufort
Sponsored by Junior Service League of Beaufort (JSLB), the second annual Touch-a-Truck fundraiser offers a unique and interactive experience for children of all ages. Children will have the opportunity to see, touch and safely explore their favorite big trucks, heavy machinery and much more. Proceeds from the event go right back into our community via JSLB grants distributed in May each year.

Beaufort’s Veterans Day Parade
Join the community in remembering our heroes at the 2017 Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony. The 9:30 am parade will follow the traditional route (from Rogers to Boundary to Carteret to Bay and end back on Rogers). A ceremony will follow in the Beaufort National Cemetery at 11 a.m.

The Heritage Days Celebration is a four-day cultural event celebrating the Gullah/Geechee/Sea Island history, folk arts, food, music, crafts and West African cultural legacy. Located at Penn Center on St. Helena Island—formerly the Penn School, one of the first schools for former slaves and their descendants—visitors can experience the unique setting of the 50-acre historic campus. Special events for the weekend include demonstrations of West African/Gullah cultural connections. Details.

26th Annual Hilton Head Island Bridge Run
The 2017 Hargray Hilton Head Island Bridge Run will be held on Saturday,  November 11, at 8 a.m. The 10K Road Race, 5K Fun Run and Health Walk will start and finish at Crossing's Park and take participants over the scenic Broad Creek on the Cross Island Expressway. The 10K and 5K Road Races will feature all standard race divisions. Register.

ducks.pngWaterfowl Warrior Dinner and Conservation Banquet
Join Beaufort Ducks Unlimited for a night celebrating the area’s Waterfowl Heritage and the heroes who have made it possible. Dinner will be served at Tabby Place, followed by a top-notch auction featuring limited-edition shotguns as well as sought-after DU artwork. Purchase tickets.

Beaufort Christmas Parade Entry Deadline
At the traditional Beaufort Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 3, floats, bands, groups of walkers, and personal cars and trucks will spread holiday cheer through downtown streets.

Lowcountry fair.jpgLowcountry Fair with Historical Flair
The Saint Elena History Center will host a fun-filled family event filled with historic and cultural activities at Cotton Hall Plantation. The richness of our English, French, Native American, Scottish and Spanish heritage will be the focus of events, performances and vendors featuring arts, food and activities characteristic of the countries of our ancestors, as well as some that are a uniquely American blend of them all. The headline event is marsh tacky races with the South Carolina Marsh Tacky Association. Among other event hightlights will be show horsemanship events, falconry and weapons demonstrations, flamenco dancing and a children’s petting zoo. Details and tickets.
