DC_gilley.jpgAlready suffering from an arthritic left knee, D.C. Gilley added to his misery after he tore his meniscus and developed severe swelling in the joint. When he was no longer able to tolerate the pain, he went to see orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Kevin Jones.

The board-certified BMH physician discovered D.C. had a septic infection in his knee, a serious medical condition that can lead to rapid destruction of the cartilage and bone. After 12 days in the hospital and four months of therapy, he was healthy enough to have a total knee replacement.

“What Dr. Jones did for me was really remarkable,” the 76-year-old Beaufort attorney says. “It’s been 10 years and I’m still going strong. It was a fantastic outcome.”

An expert in minimally invasive joint replacement, Dr. Jones continues to stay at the forefront of orthopaedic medicine, mastering innovative techniques and procedures to ensure the best possible results for his patients.

“It’s great to see how well D. C. Gilley is doing,” Dr. Jones says. “Total knee replacement surgery has been a very effective and reliable technique to get people back to the activities they enjoy. And techniques continue to evolve. We are now routinely using computer-assisted pre-op planning, customized instruments and most recently individualized design that allows improved balancing.”
